WHO ARE WE?
College Consultants New York is a firm based in western New York committed to excellence in college admissions consulting services. Our job is to assess, evaluate and advise our student-clients and their families on the admissions process at ALL levels of higher education pursuits, including undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate.
We also help student-clients with applications for Post-Doctoral fellowships and grants as well as other specialized consulting and career services.
R. A. Housel, Ph.D. is the senior consultant and founder of College Consultants New York with over a decade of experience in college admissions consulting. Dr. Housel is a proud member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and the President of the New York College English Association (NYCEA). HOW IT WORKS:
First things first: Contact our accessible, friendly staff to schedule an in-person consultation if you are in the western New York area. You can also schedule a phone consultation if you are outside of western NY:

Next, an informal assessment of your current status and evaluation of your particular needs will be followed by initial advisement. As a student-client, you may then sign on for customized help and advice as you not only choose a “right-fit” higher education institution that meets your needs and goals, but also prepare yourself and your materials for the admissions process, including your curriculum vitae, personal essay, writing samples, portfolio, personal website, financial aid forms, scholarship applications, and more.
Because we work with student-clients using an individual-needs basis, fee schedules are customized to a particular student-client’s requirements. You may choose to work with Dr. Housel and the staff at College Consultants New York for an extended period of time, as early as sophomore year of high school for undergraduate admissions, or, as early as sophomore year of undergraduate for graduate and postgraduate admissions.
For those Doctoral students looking for postgraduate fellowships and grants, please contact Dr. Housel in your second year of study.
Some student-clients come to us as late as fall of senior year in high school or as an undergraduate, choosing to sign on for a period of months through acceptance. Though it is recommended to begin the consulting process earlier for best results, we still work hard to help student-clients late in the process achieve their educational and career goals.
We also provide specialized education and career consulting services on an hourly basis.
